SCENARIOS at ISE 36

During the 36th Topical Meeting International Society of Electrochemistry: “Marine and environmental electrochemistry in the era of new technologies” that was held in Šibenik, Croatia our student Meghna Khadka, from Ben Gurion University of the Negev participated with an oral presentation of the work carried out at their lab.

The research by Meghna concerned with the electrochemical sensing of PFAS by electrodes modified with elastin-like peptides was the subject of the oral presentation at the conference. To date, studies have analysed electrochemical signals in the presence of PFOS and investigated electrode modifications with varying degrees of hydrophobicity. It demonstrated how PFOS impacted double layer capacitance and charge transfer resistance. Chemometrics was used to assess the electrochemical sensing model for PFOS in buffer solutions.

Meghna Khadka delivered the oral presentation  on the 28th May in  the category “Electrochemistry in emerging pollutants analysis and monitoring in environmental matrices” with the title “Elastin Like Peptides-Modified Electrodes for Perfluorosulphonic Acid Electrochemical Detection”. The authors of the paper were, jointly with Meghna, her colleagues Miriam Amiram, Hadar Ben-Yoav, Yuval Michal, Ortal Nativ, Avner Ronen and Alexander Alexander Snezhko

Approximately hundred people attended the event; scientists, engineers, and researchers from government laboratories, and academia come together for this international conference to share findings and problems in a variety of forms. It combines research and technology from the fields of solid state and electrochemistry, providing a forum for knowledge sharing and learning about multidisciplinary advances.

It was an interesting opportunity to interact with academics, businesses, and government officials in a venue for discussion and exchange of innovative ideas coming from SCENARIOS. As we all know  international conferences brought people together from a variety of backgrounds to solve problems, share ideas, and gain knowledge from one another.
